Wafer Butterfly Valve Installation and Maintenance Instructions

1. Place the wafer valve between the two flanges. Note that this type of valve does not require a gasket, and using a gasket can impair the valve's performance.
2. After adjusting the valve, secure the flanges in a boiling point manner.
3. Tighten the four bolts and nuts in a crosswise manner and tighten slightly.
4. Remove the valve from between the two flanges.
5. Weld the flanges completely to the pipe.
6. After the weld has cooled, reinsert the valve between the flanges. The valve should now open and close easily. Hold the valve slightly open to prevent damage to the rubber seal.
7. Align the valve in the installation location and tighten the four primary screws in a crosswise pattern.
8. Close the remaining screws and tighten them all completely in a crisscross pattern.
9. Open and close the valve several times to ensure smooth operation. For added safety, hold the butterfly in the open position.

How to open the rubber seal

1. Turn the valve on.
2. If there is an operator, remove it.
3. Open the cover on the short shaft side.
4. Remove the long shaft from the body (if there is an O-ring, it may remain on the shaft).
5. Remove the short shaft with the help of a screw that is fastened to its front.

Reinstalling the rubber seal

1. Make sure the bushings are in the body.
2. The inner surfaces of the body and the outer surface of the tire should not be greasy.
3. Fold the tire and first place one of its protrusions in the hole in the body.
4. Then place the second protrusion in the other hole in the body and ensure that the tire is fully seated.
5. If the rubber is not EPDM, the following parts can be lubricated with a small amount of silicone grease for ease of installation:
   • Inner surface of the tire
   • The end of the short shaft that fits inside the impeller.
   • A long shaft square that fits inside the impeller.
6. Place the impeller in the open position inside the body, so that its square hole is aligned with the square section of the shaft.
7. Put the short shaft in place and close the cap.
8. Also put the long shaft in place.
9. Tighten the Allen head screw until it fits into the groove of the long shaft.
10. Tighten the lock nut completely.
11. If the operator exists, reinstall it.
